Welcome

Hello Readers,

It was just this past February when I had a sort of epiphany, where I decided that I wanted to make writing a permanent part of my life and my career. It seems I have always had a fascination with words, learning to speak at 9 months, creating a secret written and spoken language with my sister Whitney at age 9, writing songs and even raps by middle school, becoming a Spanish Language and Literature major at Elmira College, and now beginning the plans for my first novel. So I guess maybe it wasn't an epiphany, just a realization of what I have loved all along.

What I want to share with everyone on this blog is my exploration with the application of writing in "the real world" and in a job situation. Here I will post the articles I have written this summer during my internship with my local newspaper, the Weekly Adirondack and the lessons I have learned researching, writing, and revising them.

I am so grateful for Jay and Marianne (my editor and supervisor) to be able to give me the opportunity to complete my internship in an environment so conducive to learning. Every week Jay has met with me, going over my pieces and giving me lessons on life in the journalism world that need to be learned in order to succeed. And Marianne's passion and enthusiasm have more than rubbed off on me, they have become ingrained in my work and in myself.

So here it is: the outcome of my fourteen week journey into journalism.
